My Weightloss Journey

For my "Do Something" project, I decided to start my weightloss journey as a college student. I decided this due to the fact that my health has been at risk and I figured it's time to better my mental/physical health. Due to the fact that I'm a pretty open person, I decided to create a snapchat story and share my progress with friends and family.

On my snapchat story, I posted updates of me going to the gym, trying new foods, and the music that helped me stay motivated. As a college student, it can be a struggle take of yourself. A lot of college students don't have time or money to diet/exercise. I wanted to test that theory due to being a new college student. I felt that by sharing my journey with other college friends on snapchat, they could also see how it is possible.

My Ignite Talk

For my ignite talk, I discussed what I completed for my "Do Something" project. I talked about different concepts of my weightloss journey as a college student. I went over the food aspect, the time aspect, what motivates me, what keeps me on track, and more. I'm not too scared of public speaking so I volunteered to go first. I personally feel like it went well. I stayed on topic and used up the 15 seconds for each slide.

College Students Physical Health

For data, I posted questions on google forms and shared it with the class. I asked college students if they go to the gym, if college effects their ability to visit the gym, if college has effected their diet, etc). The data that I collected concludes that college students struggle to visit the gym and struggle to eat healthy. This can be due to not having enough time, not having enough money due to being a college student, or due to poor mental health.

My Pathway

For my pathway, I decided to create a video using iMovie. The video shows how much my video-editing skills have improved due to EDU 106. Thanks to the class, I was given the opportunity to create a video that makes me proud. It's a very personal video and definitley something I will keep close to my heart. In this video I showed:

  • Text over images
  • Adjusting audio throughout the video
  • Screen-Recording
  • And how successful my "Do Something" project was
